  • Essay / Theory of Evolution - 1269

Evolution is a process in which organisms change over time as traits are passed from one generation to the next. The theory helps explain why organisms look and act the way they do. Genes are what define us and are very important in reproduction. Tooby, J. and Cosmides, L. (2005) believe that there are six principles that determine behavior. To better understand, Singh, D. and Luis, S. (1995) carried out an experiment which proved how human behaviors are guided by these six principles. Singer, P. (1972) believes in helping members of your species so that everyone has equal wealth. As a result, there would be no more poverty in the world. Lehmann, L. and Keller, L. (2006) believe that the spectrum of helping members of your species includes cooperation on one side and altruism on the other. Evolutionary theory is accepted as plausible because of the six ethical principles that guide our behaviors, our ethical goals aimed at helping members of your species; in which the cooperator has the direct benefits. In this article, I will give three reasons in support of the author's thesis. Next, I will list the objections to the thesis statement. Finally, I will respond to the objections. Tooby, J. and Cosmides, L. (2005) are the ones who proposed the six principles that guide our behavior. They believed that traits are acquired through environments passed down from one generation to the next. The following principles are:1. Tooby, J. and Cosmides, L. (2005) stated: “the brain is a computer designed by natural selection to extract information from the environment”. (p. 18).2. Tooby, J. and Cosmides, L. (2005) stated: "individual human behavior is generated by this evolved computer in response to the information it extracts from the environment...... middle of paper ... ...and you helped someone in need. Like the phrase “survival of the fittest,” whoever adapts better to environments will pass on their traits to their offspring. If homework benefits everyone, some would slack off and not follow the rules. In the paper towel example, maybe your roommate doesn't buy the paper towels and, therefore, is the one who benefits instead of you.
