  • Essay / Exploring myself and my personal identity

Growing up in a home filled with warmth and unconditional love as a child, I was pushed to my limits living in a rough neighborhood in Oakland, CA, but traveling to Hayward, CA, for a better learning opportunity. When I was younger, I would come straight home after school and start doing my homework and studying if necessary. I persisted in learning new things and made sure everyone knew about it. In elementary school, I actively won academic and achievement awards. When I was in elementary school, I think I had a growth mindset because I knew I could learn more if I practiced and exercised my brain. As my years in college progressed, I rebelled, was careless about my classwork and homework, and became antisocial in all aspects of life during this time. I definitely think I adopted a fixed mindset because I didn't think I could grow academically or as a person. I thought I was stuck in this position because of a tragic death in my family. As I entered high school, I gained more confidence in the person I was, I wanted to achieve the goals of being a better student, I also learned to deal with the challenges that school threw at me . From high school to the present, my mindset has been and will continue to be a growth mindset. Say no to plagiarism. The best educational story I experienced took place at the academy, we were one big family and we supported each other, from the teachers to the students. My English teacher during my senior year invested extra time tutoring me, checking my work, and giving me advice that has had the biggest impact on my life to date. Comparing the beginning and the end of high school, I improved immensely thanks to the endless time and effort that the teachers had instilled in me. I think the worst school story I experienced happened in the middle of eighth grade, I was failing, I didn't pay attention in class but the teacher never approached me to the height of this that I was living. When I tried to contact him, my teacher told me that "if I didn't try in his class or in life, I wouldn't succeed." I felt defeated, so I used negativity to motivate myself, so no one would. to be able to doubt myself again. Throughout high school I loved writing, I always felt comfortable expressing my opinion. My favorite essay I wrote was about my Alaska Native tribe. I was able to learn and research in detail about the language, heritage and food. Writing an essay, a poem or music allows me to escape from reality, to be in my own world without bothering anyone. Reading is unfortunately not my strong point, although I sometimes pick up a book if it piques my interest. One of my favorite books is The Great Gatsby because it shows that the mysterious, rich man that no one knows can still find love. Keep in mind: this is just a sample.
