    Foxconn: Impact of globalization on working conditions. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd, which operates under the group name Foxconn Technology or as the media calls it, Foxconn has recently been in the media spotlight due to labor issues that surfaced within the organization. Foxconn is a major equipment manufacturer supplying electronics giants like Blackberry, Apple, Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation and Nintendo Wii. The Internet contains several articles and controversies regarding deplorable working conditions and cases of worker suicides. Foxconn has factories in Asia, Europe, Mexico and South America. Why was only the Chinese company Foxoconn in the spotlight and not any other country? Although Chinese factories are the largest factories in China, these factories also have dormitories and other infrastructure to accommodate workers and allow workers to return at the end of the 12-hour shift to relax and unwind. recharge for the next shift. A quarter of employees live in these dormitories. My case study will analyze how different news sources revealed to the world the global sweatshop and the reactions of companies that used Foxconn to manufacture electronic products. The Chinese newspaper portrayed Foxconn employees as having social and psychological reasons leading to suicide, while US news showed it was a human rights violation. Neither acknowledged the social justice and global economic aspects or the steps taken by electronics giants to address the problems facing Wuhan, China.
