  • Essay / The Importance of My Family - 1266

Due to the death of my father and six years of living with a strict man, my family has become closer than expected. I grew up faster than most of my peers, but from there I accomplished more than most of my peers. My nieces and nephew see me more as a sister than an aunt, but they respect me even if I have to discipline them. One of the main reasons I wanted to get my private pilot's license, graduate high school with a 4.0, and attend the Air Force Academy was to make my dad proud of me and show my nieces and my nephew that they can accomplish anything if they choose to do so. to this. Alongside my empathy and moral courage, I am further developing my emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is the ability to perceive emotions, use emotions to facilitate thinking, understand emotions, and be able to manage emotions (Salovey, 2008). Because of my education, I can easily develop interpersonal relationships with others and I am constantly aware of my body language because people base their first impressions on that. My family structure influences my daily leadership. Growing up as an only child, I was quiet, but always thinking and asking questions. In my element, I try to be authoritative, hold them to standards, and ask them to do their best in everything, while letting them know they can talk to me about anything. My past doesn't define me, but it laid the foundation for why I'm motivated to make a difference and be a trustworthy person.
