    Outdoor recreation has existed for over 80 centuries. Over the years, outdoor recreation has evolved in many aspects. Outdoor recreation began as a tool for survival strategies, such as hunting and fishing. Over the years, people began hunting and fishing as a form of recreation. As a population, we can agree that outdoor recreation has many positive attributes, such as personal satisfaction and enjoyment, as well as negative aspects that could equate to costly participation in outdoor recreation activities. Over time, the participation statistics of the population participating in outdoor recreational activities have experienced high and low levels. These fluctuations could cause many problems in the future of outdoor recreation around the world. Three main topics will be covered in this article: what affects the future of outdoor recreation, demographics, and technology. Counties, states, territories and provinces need to be aware and consider what may affect the future, such as new developments (homes, businesses and factories), a decrease in natural resources due to logging, mining and oil. Technology has also had a major impact on the way the world functions on a daily basis. It also plays a major role in outdoor recreational activities. Some forms of technology also prevent people from enjoying outdoor leisure activities, for example the Internet, gaming and television. Although many can create a positive influence, for example, new ways of traveling outdoors, mountain bikes, and other types of technologies that have a negative impact like soil erosion. For example, the noise they create can scare wildlife and cause it to migrate to another location, leaving that piece of land that once thrived with wildlife losing variety. Engine pollution can harm the flora surrounding the dirt road. Not only do these travel devices affect flora and fauna, but they can also contribute to the low number of individuals wishing to travel within or to the specific location. Many people may not want to take a peaceful walk or hike to watch birds and then be disturbed by the loud noise of people riding on four wheels and eventually speeding past them. Several means of preventing this type of circumstance have been implemented in my parks, trails and bodies of water.
