Technological equipment such as computers, cell phones, portable devices and much more are very common among most people in the 21st century. Most people, especially teenagers, own at least one or more technological devices to make their lifestyle easier and easier. SUNY Plattsburgh, the university I am currently pursuing my degree at, it is very common to see most of the students walking around campus looking at their cell phones or talking through a cell phone. However, are people really too dependent on technology these days? Perhaps, but I would like to disagree with this statement. It's absolutely true that technology has dominated most of our lives and it's not uncommon to walk into a restaurant and see a group of people sitting around playing with their phones, but that doesn't mean not that we couldn't survive without technology. Technology is very useful and has made our lives more efficient. As a student, I am often confronted with a lot of specific scientific knowledge and the Internet has provided me with the means to understand what I want to know in seconds. In a few clicks on Google for example, I could already start studying and answer my questions. This is much more efficient than going to the library and looking through different books to find the specific information I need. Technology is not a drug, it is a tool that has made our lives easier. To the many people who have mentioned that people rely too much on technology to gain knowledge, I would like to emphasize that technology and books are learning tools for us. By having one tool that is much more efficient than another, I am sure that most of us would choose the tool that offers the most efficiency so that we can save more time and paper...... It makes our lives more efficient than before. If offered different ways of doing something that give the same result, it would be wise to choose the most efficient method to save time and resources. The presence of technology has made our lives easier and more efficient than before. It is such an expectation to recognize how technology will continue to develop and help man achieve better lifestyles and more discoveries. People should recognize technology and appreciate its presence for the sake of human civilization. The most important thing is that we must trust people and enable them to create even more wonderful things through technology.
