Is everyone born purely good inside? Or are we all filled with a certain amount of good and evil? In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a plane full of schoolchildren lands on a desert island, killing all the adults. Without adult supervision or civilization, the boys fall back into the madness and savagery that are human nature. In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, his character Simon uses spiritual power by discovering what the beast really is, showing how he failed to warn others, how his use of power affected the book in its whole and how spiritual power is used. in the real world.Simon uses spiritual power by discovering what the beast actually sees. After Simon “[becomes] inarticulate in his efforts to express the essential illness of humanity.” (Golding 89) to the other boys, he knows they won't believe him if he just tells them about the Beast, so he knows the only way they will believe him is if he finds proof. He also accepts that the boys might not believe him, which directly shows that he is using his spiritual power by being alone with his beliefs. Simon also uses his spiritual power when he demonstrates innate goodness in any way possible. One of the characteristics of spiritual power is that it derives from inner beauty and purity of thought and behavior. Simon shows this by truly caring about the boys, because that's exactly the kind of kind and caring person Simon is. He even takes care of the little ones that no one really seems to care about. He “found them the fruits they could not reach, plucked the best from the top of the foliage, passed them to the endlessly outstretched hands” (Golding 138). Even knowing the other boys think he's wacky, he still tries middle of paper...... lies, and yet still sick of bullying in the first place. Bullies, while they can be horrible, prove harmless when confronted, just like Simon when he faced the Beast. In the end, although he failed to inform the other boys, Simon, through his use of spiritual power, was able to recognize the truth. He steadfastly resisted evil, even though it consumed the island after his death. People can look at it as an example of how to act in real life. And to be honest, Simon is an important character in William Golding's Lord of the Flies, not just for all that, but because he's what everyone should wish they were. In the book, others bully him because they don't understand him very well, but Simon is actually a role model for the world. Don't you think the world would be a much better place if we all tried to act a little like Simon ??
