  • Essay / Leadership Profile Analysis - 1068

In taking inventory of leadership styles, it was not surprising to see the results. After completing nearly thirty years of study, the results revealed the use of multiple styles in my leadership role. The Leadership Legacy results indicated that I was linked on two types of styles. They were truth seekers and experienced guides. The Ambassador and the People Mover were tied again for one point less. One point less once again revealed by Creative Builder. My lowest domain was Advocate. I thought this assessment was close to my own perceptions. As a seeker of truth, I value fairness and try to use judgment in dealing with challenges. I am process oriented and try to remain neutral and objective in dealing with issues. In the Experienced Guide leadership style, I have helped many colleagues resolve problem situations. I listen and offer several options for dealing with a situation. I keep my confidence. The following areas, Ambassador and People Mover, are another part of my personality in the workplace. In a library environment, I have to work with everyone in various situations and make everyone win as much as possible. As a People Mover, I have had several opportunities to mentor new teachers and new librarians. Another style I had strength in is Creative Builder. I am someone who needs to change. I had the opportunity to help restructure the upper grades of a school to include a multi-age 3-4-5 level. Researching, developing and selling this concept took a lot of work. My weakest point in this leadership assessment was the lawyer. As a librarian, I tend to stay behind the scenes in a more service-oriented role. This year I am a member of the District Libraries Leadership Team and this has given me the opportunity to work on my advocacy...... middle of paper ...... confidence. Engaging in meaningful discussion can provide teaching opportunities. Encourage others to study important topics and share information. I will have to help others organize their new knowledge. I think these assessments were helpful in clarifying my leadership style. I am confident in the way I approach challenges and seek solutions. I'm looking for multiple solutions and points of view. I am looking for a win-win outcome as much as possible. I can impose something when necessary, but I prefer to create the most positive result possible. I see leadership as a big challenge in a school. There are so many factors to consider and how each decision affects many different aspects of the school environment. I know I need practice presenting my vision and mission to a staff and being an effective leader in leading a community to follow my lead..
