In my essay I will write about the book Lord of the flies. This book is written and narrated by William Golding. The setting of this story is World War II. Where a group of children fly to a country but are shot down on the way. They manage to get to a neighboring island where they get their bearings. The main characters are Ralph, Piggy, Jack, Simon. Then there are the little kids, aka the “little ones.” The deaths of Piggy and Simon are the greatest literal tragedy of Lord of the Flies. The main tragedy would be the loss of innocence experienced by all the children on the island. The children knew that all civilization on the island had been lost when the conch shell was broken along with Piggy. Another tragedy could have happened when the whole island was burned down, but it didn't matter because right after the fire they were rescued. You can read Lord of the Flies as religious or at least partly so. In the early chapters of the book, the island itself resembles the Garden of Eden from Genesis, with its magnificent landscapes, delicious fruits and incredible climate.
