    Oedipus Tyrannus" is "basically the story of a man's discovery, through persistent investigation, that he is guilty of parricide and involuntary incest, and his reaction horrified at this discovery. In “Oedipus the King,” Oedipus, king of Thebes, unknowingly killed his biological father and married his mother. Out of this ancient myth, the playwright Sophocles weaves a complex story that can be interpreted on many levels of intellectual thought. This piece, since its creation, has been the subject of countless forms of analysis and interpretation. The most famous is Aristotle's interpretation of the play in his book "Poetics", on what makes it a perfect tragedy. So what is “Oedipus Tyrannus” really about, which continues to fascinate intellectuals and readers? Is it the developing mystery that captivates the audience or the sense of cathartic effect that readers and audiences feel after vicariously experiencing the horror and humiliation that Oedipus feeds on at the end of the play or is it- this humanity's questioning about gods and prophecies. Regardless of how the reader chooses to interpret the play, “Oedipus the King” remains one of the most admirable plays ever staged in the literary world. One way to approach “Oedipus the King” can be to look at it as if it were a detective novel. . When we first read the book, we can see that the entire plot revolves around Oedipus' quest for the truth. Basically, Oedipus attempts to solve a murder mystery of the former king of Thebes Laius with the required elements of suspects, crimes, clues and investigator to make it a normal detective story. The plot of the story revolves around an important event, namely the murder of King Laius. So now that we have the crime laid out, do we need a hero. Enter “Oedipus” as detective.
