In June 1971, I was born Gary Eugene Beers at Riversides Hospital in St. John's. I was raised by both my parents, Mrs. Margaret L. Beers (a certified nurse's aide for about twenty-seven years), and my father, Mr. Edward Beers (a United States Postal Service mail carrier for about two years old) from Yonkers, New York, I am the second youngest of two (8) children. I have a deceased sister and six (6) other siblings. The many organizations, it must be said, outside the school were those who wanted the paper greatly improved and its name restored by the "best of the best" students. These later students will also be those revered as tenured journalists with many exceptional qualities. in the future, the history of the university newspaper would be significant. Over time, these would demonstrate his incredible feats in his animated presence and, in all his glory, would be spectacular and colorful and worthy of any good newspaper! We did so by restoring the University newspaper to its original glory, once enjoyed by the vast surrounding community outside the University walls - so it was once again an achievement we dreamed of all.!
