    In June 1971, I was born Gary Eugene Beers at Riversides Hospital in St. John's. I was raised by both my parents, Mrs. Margaret L. Beers (a certified nurse's aide for about twenty-seven years), and my father, Mr. Edward Beers (a United States Postal Service mail carrier for about two years old) from Yonkers, New York, I am the second youngest of two (8) children. I have a deceased sister and six (6) other siblings. We did so by restoring the University newspaper to its original glory, once enjoyed by the vast surrounding community outside the University walls - so it was once again an achievement we dreamed of all.!
