In the 21st century, air transportation by civil aviation has gained popularity as the fastest way to get from one part of the world to another other. Flying is the most common choice for long-distance travel, but since the dawn of aviation, plane crashes continue to ravage the industry. Airplane accidents are the most devastating type of accident in the transportation system. According to Gary Stoller of USA Today, only 15% of people have survived a fatal accident in the last decade. Today, the focus on aviation safety is an ongoing process for the airline industry. Investigations into the causes of plane crashes are the key to uncovering the riddle of plane crashes. In order to find the root cause, academics, experts and government agencies search and analyze extensive database information about past incidents. Among the different reasons that cause plane crashes, I would like to talk about three reasons: pilot errors, weather conditions and terrorist attacks. Pilot errors and weather conditions are common causes of airplane accidents. Pilot error can occur in the form of simple errors or more serious errors that can result in death due to poor judgments. Weather is an external factor that can cause a plane crash by affecting its ability to maintain level flight. Hijackings are not a common cause of airplane accidents, but, due to their media exposure, they have become a concern in the public mind today. The first recorded hijacking took place in 1931; subsequently, terrorist attacks became a new and specific factor leading to plane crashes.
