    To study whether there is a relationship between consumer demographics and family attributes play a role in the selection of preferred retail formats. There is a need to study the problems faced by consumers while purchasing groceries from organized and traditional retail outlets. Objective of the Study: To examine consumer preference while purchasing various grocery products from organized stores (supermarkets, hypermarkets, department stores, etc.) and traditional stores (local grocery stores, weekly bazaars, etc. ) of the city of Trichy. To study the influence of demographic factors on customer purchasing decisions in relation to organized and traditional retail formats. To carry out a comparative study of the factors that influence consumers to purchase from organized retailers/traditional retailers. Bringing out the consumer satisfaction level of organized retail stores as well as traditional retail stores. Limitations of the study: The number of respondents is only 250 and the study was limited to Trichy city only. The data collected is primary in nature. There is therefore a risk of a biased or misleading response from the customer. The data collected from the customer is qualitative in nature, i.e. views, perception, satisfaction, opinion, etc. are collected from the customer. may change from time to time.
