  • Essay / Pharmaceutical Practice Experience 2: An introduction to...

In addition, it gave me the opportunity to learn the basics of pharmaceutical management, how resources were allocated in the hospital, how the hospital adapts economically to laws and regulations. from the board of pharmacy as well as insurance companies. I am certain that what I learned from this experience will facilitate my continuing education, because it was an opportunity to learn more about the role of the pharmacist and their involvement in management, in addition to their common role of patient educator. I am confident that if I am presented with the opportunity to be a department head in a hospital, I will be able to assess the needs of the hospital and ensure that all appropriate resources are in place. For example, regardless of the size of the hospital, I will observe whether the number of staff members are best and efficiently performing the tasks required by the hospital. In other words, I will assess whether it is necessary to recruit more staff. Additionally, I will evaluate whether the role played by each person is producing the desired results or whether there is a need to reassign tasks. Review and implementation of automated systems will take place, particularly systems that can help reduce human error. I will make sure to hold meetings so all staff can find out whether or not they feel comfortable with the new changes, and together determine what other resources can be implemented to improve and make the medication distribution process a more stifling and efficient process. This will ultimately lead to effective medication management that meets state requirements and ultimately lead to fewer medication errors and safe medication implementation.
