  • Essay / Animal Testing Essay - 1200

Animal testing has been used all over the world, but most countries have stopped it except some countries like the United States and China. Europe stopped using animals for testing because it was inhumane and is urging the United States to do the same. Some of the tests done on animals aren't even necessary. We still use animals to test, even though we have created new alternatives, could we really trust animal testing? Our government pays way too much money for animal testing. In an article I read, written by Charlie Dunmore, he explained how Europe was trying to persuade many countries like the US and China to stop animal testing. Better yet, it was the European Union trying to convince China, the United States and other countries to move to other alternatives; to prevent cosmetic companies from testing their products on animals. Someone speaking on behalf of cosmetics companies said: "If we want to introduce new ingredients into Europe, it's going to be very difficult, because we don't have the tools available to meet these criteria." , in his statement he made. suggests that the poor animals are just tools. The testing procedures these poor animals have to go through aren't even meant to save lives or anything like that. I'm not saying that this is a reason to test on animals, because we have other alternatives; these tests are only for cosmetic products that no one needs so much to save lives, unless of course you are a young teenager in high school. Europeans want cosmetics manufacturers to stop testing their products on animals. So if many Europeans voted to force cosmetics companies to stop testing their products on animals, we should be able to do the same. It could be... middle of paper... the money our government uses to test on animals should be used for something else, like paying for our doubts, and animals could no longer be tested. In conclusion, it is up to them to consider wasting away or not switching to alternatives, but for the sake of the poor helpless animals, they should consider making the switch. Some of the alternatives have been proven to work better and are much more accurate than traditional animal testing. Our government spends far too much money, which we don't have, to fund animal testing, when there are clearly more effective and less expensive ways to do it. If other countries can do it why can't we and if we are known to be a "free country" then why are animals captive, tortured and killed? We should end animal testing, there should be laws to prevent these animals from being harmed..
