Additionally, breathing with these chemicals can even lead to death. Air pollution can come from natural and human activities. For example, in the industrial age, people used fossil fuels to get around. So they burned a lot of fossil fuels, which is a major cause of pollution. When burning fossil fuels, dangerous pollutants are released, such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons and particulate matter. In particular, carbon dioxide is a very harmful chemical for the environment because it contributes to acid rain and changes the climate which affects the environment.
