    Nascar…. When you think of moonlight, you think of mountain men in overalls who ignited grandfathers still in their forties. You may be shocked to learn that Nascars is a billion-dollar company with 100,000 cars designed to be as fast as possible. It's hard to believe it all started with brilliant runners. During the Great Depression, millions of gallons of sparkle needed to be distributed. That’s where the ridge runners came in. The shinies needed a way to get there, from the stills to the stashes…. Cops back then had stock cars and if you could outrun them, you were free. You can only get in trouble if you're caught red-handed... the bright guys in the woods started building cars that would outperform the cops. It was the beginning of Nascar... Mike Devlin, September 30, 2013, the brilliants took a car and used it to outrun the cops. These ridge runners knew the back roads and mountain trails better than anyone. With the help of their cars and their knowledge of the maze of roads, the ridge racers began to outsmart the cops. That’s when the bragging started. Every ridge runner thought he was the fastest rider in the mountains. They started having competitions to see who was really the fastest. One of the most famous drivers was a man named Junior Johnson. He was a shiner who had been arrested and spent a year in prison. He got out of prison and returned to the fast, financial lifestyle of Running Shine. At his peak, he was considered the fastest man on the Ridge. He then moved to Nascar in 1955 and won over 50 races. He then retired in 1966. In 1933, Prohibition was repealed, but the brilliants did not abandon their reckless ways, they continued...... middle of paper ...... days, moonshine wood was used to light a fire. to heat the still. The Americans still needed a way to get there, so the moonshiners needed. More and more people started making moonshine to earn some extra money. From outlaws to small business owners, moonlight seemed to be present deep in the South. They started in the southern forests and began to shine.
