  • Essay / Training and Development - 1826

Training and development is an essential part of any organization. It is a learning process that involves acquiring knowledge, honing skills, and changing attitudes and behaviors to increase employee performance. According to Noe and Winkler (2012), training “refers to a planned effort to facilitate the learning of competencies, including knowledge, skills, or behaviors that are essential for successful performance in an existing situation” (p 3). On the other hand, development is also about knowledge, skills or behaviors "but the time frame extends into the future, so it involves formal education and experiences that will be essential for future performance" ( Noe and Winkler, 2012, p. . The aim of this study was to conduct an evaluation of a training or development program with reference to the process of designing educational systems focusing both on the design of the training (formative evaluation) and on the results of the training (summative assessment) in an organization which, in this applied project, is the Crest Commercial Cleaners. Before going further with this applied project, we will first define the two types of evaluation that we have mentioned, which are formative evaluation and summative evaluation. Formative evaluation refers to the evaluation of training that takes place during program design and development. This helps confirm that the training program is well organized and runs smoothly and that trainees are learning and satisfied with the program.
