Personal reflection on meditation: Meditation is an important psychological practice that protects the brain against aging and improves an individual's ability to learn new things. This practice achieves this by improving concentration, reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, and relieving chronic pain. In general, it helps a person feel greater calm, connect to deeper feelings, and challenge self-judgmental tendencies. Therefore, meditation opens the doors to real and accessible happiness for an individual. According to Salzberg (2011), meditation is essentially about training an individual's attention to become more aware of internal workings and external incidents (p.7). After becoming aware of the internal workings and external incidents, a person can choose his actions towards visible things. Although every world religion incorporates some sort of thought exercise, meditation in today's world is generally practiced separately from any belief system. My personal reflection: Sharon Salzberg offers different types of meditation in her book on true happiness to help people transform their lives through this practice. Some of the different types of meditation featured in his book include focus, mindfulness and body, mindfulness and emotions, and cultivating compassion and true happiness. One such meditation that I have continued as outlined in the Salzberg 28 Day Program is concentration through breathing and the art of starting again. The main elements of this type of meditation include breathing, hearing, and letting go of thoughts. However, this requires choosing a suitable time, place and posture before beginning the meditation process. Essentially, the... middle of paper...... suitable solutions that help solve the problem effectively. I also learned to accept delays or negative feedback more easily while remaining positive. Through meditation, I will be able to experience increased happiness, calmness and have a positive mental attitude towards everything. In conclusion, meditation is an important practice that helps people feel calm and true happiness in the midst of complex situations and problems. In my personal experience, meditation transformed my old view of myself as a failure and helped me develop a positive mental attitude that everything is achievable. With these results, I will continue this practice in the future because it is a major means of personal therapy and self-assessment. Essentially, the process helps one realize one's full potential to handle all life's problems..
