Action research is a research process of a reflective nature and generally carried out in a school environment. These types of research allow school-based professionals to collaborate on components of a study and seek solutions to common daily challenges that educators face in schools (Ferrance, 2000). Educators can use the reflective process through action research to better understand their work and gain professional knowledge while striving for continuous improvement (Brown, 2002).
