  • Essay / The Man in Search of Meaning - 954

In The Man in Search of Meaning, Viktor Frankl describes his revolutionary type of psychotherapy. He calls this therapy logotherapy, from the Greek word “logos”, which designates meaning. This is centered on man's primary motivation, namely his search for meaning. For Frankl, finding meaning in life is a force stronger than any subconscious drive. He draws inspiration from his own experiences in a Nazi concentration camp to create and support this philosophy of human existence. Frankl endured a lot of suffering during his time in the concentration camp. All his property was confiscated, including his manuscript in which he recorded all of his life's work. He had to do arduous manual labor, walking in freezing temperatures and with little or no food. Furthermore, he didn't even know if his wife was alive or if she had been killed during their separation. However, despite all this, Frankl managed to maintain hope and care for his fellow human beings. This is due to his philosophy of the person. He believed that the key to surviving these horrible conditions was finding meaning in life. Once there is meaning in living, there will be a will to live. Finding meaning in life is the most important thing according to Frankl. It is the core of his philosophy and claims that it is the core of human existence. According to him, everything can be considered a reason to live. Love may be the strongest motivation, but even someone can flourish in their profession. According to logotherapy, we can find meaning in three ways. Man can either create a work or perform a good deed, experience something or meet someone, or through the attitude we adopt in the face of inevitable suffering, we can discover meaning in the middle of a paper. ..... m he likes or without something that seems important to him to find meaning. It will also be difficult for that person not to consider suicide, although Frankl believes that should never be an option. Personally, I agree with most of Viktor Frankl's ideas and philosophy. It is important for a person to find meaning in their life. Frankl's philosophy is more human and more personal than that of other psychiatrists. The human person cannot be motivated solely by unconscious drives. Humans are much deeper beings and need aspects of life such as purpose, love and human contact. I also agree that suicide should never be an alternative to life unless you are sacrificing your life for a greater cause. Viktor Frankl's ideas are more realistic to human nature and give a sense of optimism to the reader who will hopefully be able to find meaning in their own life..
