    Everyone who has watched The Vampire Diaries and Twilight has noticed similarities and differences with the main female protagonists, love, supernatural powers, and bloodlust. In Vampire Diaries, people meet Elena Gilbert, a young, extroverted teenager. She lived in Mystic Falls all her life, unfortunately her parents passed away. They died in a car accident when their vehicle sank into a nearby river. Elena had a normal life until it was interrupted by her encounter with Stefan Salvator, a 165-year-old vampire. Unlike Vampire Diaries, Twilight has Bella Swan. She looks like a shy and awkward teenager. Bella moved to Forks, Washington to have a better father-daughter relationship with her father. Both of Bella's parents are divorcing and have shared custody; that's why Bella had to move to Forks. Just as Elena met Stefan, Bella meets Edward Cullen, the handsome and intriguing 107-year-old vampire. In these vampire-inspired films and TV shows, there is a common space. LOVE. The difference between the Elena/Stefan and Edward/Bella romance is that Elena and Stefan are lookalikes. They are a ghost self "a person who happens to be the supernatural double of a person who lived before them" (The Vampire Diaries Wiki). This is a spell that binds people identical to Stefan and Elena to become infatuated with each other. Unfortunately, this is not “true love” as some might say. Elena and Stefan's feelings and attraction towards each other are not real. Under the Doppelganger spell, Elena and Stefan believe they are a match for each other, but that's just the lie the spell threw at them. Once the spell is broken, Elena and Stefan are free to love whoever they want. On the other hand, Edward and Bella's romance is... middle of paper... with Edward Bella's boyfriend. These two male vampires chose to become vegetarians due to their remorse for killing innocent people. Sun, Sun. Mr. Golden Sun, please enlighten me” (Barney). Both of these groups of vampires can agree that the Sun is not their best ally. In Twilight, people can see that Edward is never present when Forks has a sunny day. That's what made Bella even more curious to find out what was happening to Edward. Together they go to the meadow and Edward shows Bella why he can't be in the sun. Bella sees Edward's skin transform from human flesh to sparkling diamonds. Additionally, Vampire Diaries has a different approach to The Sun. Surprisingly, Stefan and Damon's skin doesn't glow but burns. If a vampire had been left in the sun for a long time, he would have died and turned to ashes...
