One way I can demonstrate personal interest in my students is by interacting with them as individuals. When I was in elementary school, I loved having a conversation with my teacher about what I was doing on the weekend or how everything was going at home. I felt important and that the teacher truly cared about me as a student. As a future teacher, I want my students to feel the same way I did when I was younger. I want them to know and feel that they are important in my class. I can agree with the book that greeting each student at the door individually and by name makes more sense than greeting everyone at once. I would find time during the day to have the opportunity to talk with students about what is going on in their lives.
