    When I was younger, I remember my teacher asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up. At a very young age, I knew I wanted to become a doctor. That's what all kids say when they're little, right? When an adult asks a child what they would like to be, they give one of the simplest answers: a doctor, a cop, or a teacher. As I got older, I still wanted to pursue my dream. For as long as I can remember, I have always dreamed of working in the medical field. I think volunteering at the Veterans Affairs hospital made me want to pursue this goal even more. I knew becoming a pediatrician was my destined career. I love working with children and helping people is my passion. In a few years, I see myself working at Yale Hospital, located in New Haven, focusing on children who have special needs such as autism. Then I realized I wanted to be so much more. I returned to my first career goal: becoming a children's doctor. Since then, becoming a pediatrician has been my goal. I went from wanting to be an average “doctor” to becoming a specialty in the medical field. I always knew I wanted to work with children. Teaching was a great fit for me, but I just couldn't give up on my dream. So, I quickly put the two together, I would become a pediatrician who works with both children who suffer from disorders and those who do not; that was my plan. Growing up in a home with an autistic sister made me admire my sister's pediatrician. She was a woman who was passionate about her work and would do whatever was necessary to make sure her patients were well. I wanted to be like her, to help her in any way I could. That's what gave me the certainty of being a pediatrician, the passion I felt about helping children live their lives and pursue the goals they set for themselves. I saw it as if everyone deserved a chance in life; and if I could help anyone pursue their dreams, it would make mine
