Cannon, White House correspondent for the National Journal, during her trial, Judy assured the jurors that if they did not vote in in favor of capital punishment he would kill one more day. In this situation, to execute would be to comply with the wishes of a criminal, but would nevertheless constitute an act of injustice. The death penalty cannot deter those with a pre-existing death wish; moreover, life imprisonment is the most effective. In reality, the death penalty has no meaning after death; the executed are immediately released from all responsibility, while a prisoner remains burdened by his own conscience for the rest of his life.
