  • Essay / The Beowulf Poem - 1268

The Beowulf Poem is a story that was written in the early days of Christianity in 1000 AD, which is why many examples of temptation and Satan are present in the story. Beowulf was written by an anonymous Christian monk. The story takes place in what is now Denmark, in a small kingdom located in a "gorge" called Herot. The story of Beowulf is about a hero very different from all the other heroes of ancient literature, because he was not in trouble and did not need to survive, unlike Odysseus, unlike Achilles, who all two had to fight for their lives, for survival. Meanwhile, Beowulf didn't need to fight to survive, but vice versa, he lived to fight, instead of having trouble finding it (which is the most common thing in any story where he there is a hero), he was looking for trouble. However, it wasn't just for fun, all he wanted was gold and glory. A monster lived in a kingdom called Herot, his name was Grendel, who was "infamous" for hunting and killing people and caused "loathsomeness" wherever he went, both fear and disgust. Grendel “violently” terrorized the kingdom of Herot. In desperation and need, King Hrothgar sought the help of a young hero who would free him from all his troubles, as it is said that in desperate times, desperate measures are necessary. Beowulf heard of Herot's disaster and immediately went there to save the kingdom in its most terrible times. Grendel was causing “affliction” to the townspeople, obviously Beowulf was after the gold and glory came to save the day. The first day Beowulf arrived, Grendel came hunting again, although he was only able to kill one man before Beowulf tore the entire shoulder off his arm, down to his "talon", and Grendel returned “curled up” to his cave in a “trouble.” Swa...... middle of paper ......s have had an impact on modern storytelling and novels.) In the Beowulf poem, evil functions in the same way as in real life, the "shoots", which where Grendel and the dragon are killed, but the roots which are the mother prevail and will continue to resurface, striking and attacking non-stop. She may remain peaceful for long periods of time, but she will rise again to bite again and perhaps harder. In the end, everyone dies, the sins and evil done in life disappear at death, all bad things disappear at death, maybe the damage is done, but the rest of the people will eventually die. put it off, until another tragedy occurs. However, the roots of evil and evil still stir underground. Every monster will eventually be defeated, every evil person will eventually die, every nightmare will eventually disappear, but evil, evil and sins will always be present and resurface..
