  • Essay / The Story of Emir Abd el-Kader - 968

The story of Emir Abd el-Kader is one of the greatest stories of struggle I have ever heard of, both except perhaps the Revolutionary War and this one. maybe it's just because I'm American and we're taught how amazing it was. There are six big reasons why I believe Abd el-Kader's story and legacy should be remembered today, because not only is he going through a terrible struggle, but he is keeping his blood all the time -cold and his attitude despite insurmountable obstacles. It also teaches people who, because of their ethnocentricity, believe that the people living in Africa were a group of backward, uncivilized clans, and that they only became civilized when it was brought to them from Europe, that the people of Africa were not only civilized, but were previously more powerful than Europe, were just as artistic and had great technological advancements. This is also worth remembering because Abd el-Kader was willing to stand up to someone whose army was larger, better trained, better equipped, better supplied, and had more experience than him. Moreover, it was only after he managed to unify a fractured society, with no head of government until he took charge, which had caused many tribes to rebel or to him disobey. Another thing his legacy shows is that to be successful we must not just be strong, but moral authority is also necessary because no one would want a horrible person to lead them. Another reason is that during his exile he proved that people of different religions, who spoke different languages, were raised differently and believed in completely different things, could be friends and live near each other, which the times were very unusual... middle of paper ...... like Abd el-Kader was, only with a little more science and math they would have one of the best educations possible. If he hadn't been educated the way he was, I don't think he would have been as effective as a sultan or a general, and he wouldn't have been as good a person, either. that he was taught. finished his education, and when he was imprisoned, people wouldn't have wanted him out as much, and he would have spent the rest of his life in prison. I know that education has a huge impact on how people react to things, and I believe that without his education he would never have led his people because he would not have been as religious, but n Anyone else, regardless of education, could have done it. having, or will ever be able to replicate his feats, due to how amazingly he behaved during the situation, it was almost beyond hope.
