    In the 1960s, several groups such as African-Americans, women, Mexican-Americans, and others experienced inequality. The 1960s was a period in which groups in society fought for equal rights; it is known as the Civil Rights Movement because different groups sought to eliminate discrimination. During this period, conflicts arose between workers and employers due to the harsh working environment and unfair wages and poor benefits. Latinos, particularly Mexican-American farmers, in the United States are a group that has experienced inequality in the workplace. An individual named Cesar Chavez was determined to improve the lives of migrant workers who had unequal rights to employment opportunities. Chavez intended to help migrant workers who worked in wine regions because they made less money than other groups and conditions were not fair either. The workers therefore demanded that they be treated fairly. Cesar Chavez and the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) he created showed how committed they were to workers' rights in the 1960s by organizing strikes, marches, and boycotts in their quest for equality. The first action Cesar Chavez took was after he helped organize the NFWA, a union that included mostly migrant workers. The NFWA and Chavez have taken resolute steps in their quest for equality. Chavez created the NFWA to represent the demands and needs of workers employed in grape harvest areas. First, farm workers felt they did not have equal rights in the workplace because they were paid less than they thought they should have. The farm workers association transformed in organizing the United Farm Workers, which became a well-known union in the civil rights movement in America. This organization was important during the civil rights movement because Cesar Chavez was an active leader of the group and his efforts helped improve working conditions for farmworkers. Additionally, employers showed more respect to workers by offering higher wages and higher benefits. The Delano Grape strike, which lasted 5 years, is linked to the theme of equality because individuals and groups were involved in a battle for higher wages and although they were constantly rejected, they did not have not given up; they finally achieved equality in the workplace. The La Huelga strike demonstrates how a group in the United States faced inequality and attempted to overcome this problem by launching actions to attract attention..
