Teachers can take various steps to help students achieve this goal. One example is providing and discussing examples of good student writing. This will help me and my fellow students recognize what elements constitute good work and it will help students identify alternative methods to use when writing a specific assignment. Providing detailed feedback on syntax and grammar errors can also be helpful in improving my writing. For example, instead of writing “clunky” as feedback for a poorly constructed sentence, it would be more helpful if the teacher explained why it was clumsy and provided clear instructions. This may interfere with the teacher's free time, but his help will give me the opportunity to use him as a guide when revising my writing and it will improve my future essay assignments. Over the years of my schooling, I gradually developed my writing preparation to help me become a better writer. I continue to find ways to improve my writing skills by working on my weaknesses and incorporating the feedback I receive from my peers and instructors into my essays. Sometimes I still struggle to prepare my essay, but with careful, organized planning and getting help from others, I am sure I will become more proficient in my writing.
