According to Devor, “femininity must be expressed through modes of action that communicate weakness, dependence, ineffectiveness, availability for sexual or emotional service, and sensitivity to the needs of others” (Devor 6-7 ). In other words, men must place women on a lower pedestal because of their so-called “needs” (Devor 6). The “needs” that women express are feminine characteristics. The characteristics of the females listed by Devor show no signs of power or dominance. Since society views gender as patriarchy, women have no influence and need attention. This shows that men adapt their actions to women because they believe that women need special attention. Additionally, if a man owns something non-masculine,
