  • Essay / The Importance of the X Factor By Francis Fukuyama - 712

One of the many benefits of having a lot of money is being able to donate to political campaigns and/or politicians, most of the time , they are able to win a policy or a law. This can make them pass laws and bills in favor of them or their businesses. For example, the richest 1% were responsible for a quarter of all political donations in 2010, and in exchange for all this generosity, they are essentially buying special favors. Wealthy companies also send a lobbyist to Washington to pressure or influence Washington lawmakers to pass certain laws that could help their company make the most money. They would have more X factor than a normal person or even a business owner, who otherwise would not be able to influence the world in such a way or laws for it.
