Of course, the livelihoods and even survival of local people often depend on local and regional natural resources (e.g. Whittingham et al, 2003; Fisher and IUCN, 2005 ). Organic farming helps conserve resources not only in the humid tropics, but also in the arid tropics: soils in the arid tropics vary considerably depending on climatic and geological conditions. It envisions a comprehensive management approach to improve soil health, the region's ecosystem and product quality. It includes all agricultural systems that promote environmentally sound production of food and fiber. These systems consider local soil fertility as the key to successful production, respecting the natural capacity of plants, animals and the landscape; they aim to optimize quality in all aspects of agriculture and the environment. Ample evidence indicates that organic farming rejuvenates natural resources and brings mother earth back to life, bringing a variety of benefits to the planet.
