A study of climate change adaptation practices and their implementations.1) Introduction - A series of reports conclusively published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in the 1990s linked the increase in climate variability to the consequence of human actions leading to increased amounts of greenhouse gases in the environment. These reports led to a call for international action and thus the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was created in 1994. The framework included two main strategies to combat climate change: • Mitigation – process involving the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions • Adaptation methods used to address climate change 1.1) The need for adaptation-mitigation practices was initially the method of choice, but it is gradually being It became clear that the speed of climate change required a political combination of both strategies.
