  • Essay / Pet Psychology: People who live with pets are the best...

As we discussed pet psychology last semester, I decided to write about my pet. In my opinion, people who have pets are the best people to give you advice about a dog or any other pet. Maybe someone is a scientist or has studied dog behavior, but the real dog experts are those who live with them, feed them, care for them, and most importantly: love them. Seven years ago I got my first pet, a golden retriever. At the time, I couldn't even imagine how much he would mean to me. One day dad's cousin told us that if we want a dog we can come to their house and choose one because they have seven and they can't sell them. At first we weren't sure if we wanted a dog, but we finally went for it. When I saw him with his family (other little puppies and their mother) for the first time, I knew this was the dog that would be my pet. One woman told me, “The first puppy in the litter that comes to you should be your pet.” » I listened to his advice and chose this puppy. He was chubby and slightly awkward. As he ran towards me he was drooling but he was also smiling like he was happy to see someone new. At that moment I was happy that we decided to come. When he arrived at his new home, he explored everything. The cats were what interested him the most but they were not docile. One day he got too close to one of my grandmother's cats and she scratched his nose. He was so sad as if he had done something wrong. Cats were afraid of a cute little dog...I couldn't believe it. As he was persistent and courageous, I gave him the name Zeus. In Greek mythology, Zeus is the ruler of Mount Olympus, the god of sky and thunder, but my Zeus... he's actually afraid of thunder. Fortunately, that's the only thing that scares him. It wasn't just Zeus p...... middle of paper...... who tore the skin off his hip. Fortunately, he is fine now and has no scars. Actually… we don't see a scar since he has long hair. The second time he almost died. On his stomach, he had a big chigoe. The vet told us that if we noticed him a few minutes later, Zeus would die. That day was terrible for my family. One thing is for sure...everyone in my family loves Zeus. We are all very attached to him and I can no longer imagine my life without him. We never thought an animal would mean so much to us. I think animals can be great friends. They never complain, they listen (or at least they know how to pretend to listen) and they will always welcome you with joy. Zeus is always there no matter if I'm happy, sad, angry, wearing makeup or not... He will come up to me, look at me or just hug me to show me that someone is there for me... always!
