    The lights are bright and the air is warm when the doctor enters. As she sits down, her expression quite worrying, the room suddenly becomes cold and imprisoning. As she begins to explain the results of the mammogram, the feeling worsens. The patient feels a sudden wave of nausea when the doctor tells her that a tumor is growing in her left breast. This scenario is happening to too many women and men in the United States and around the world. Fortunately, thanks to technological advances in chemotherapy, breast cancer patients have greatly benefited. There have been many developments in the field of chemotherapy since its inception in the early 20th century, and these developments have helped doctors better treat breast cancer. Developments would include things like the type of drugs used by doctors, the duration of administration of this life-saving chemotherapy and, more specifically, how to administer these drugs and ensure that they achieve the desired goal . In fact, in recent years there has been an emphasis on accuracy. UC Irvine researchers have discovered a way to help direct the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin to its desired target by developing amino acid sequences that respond only to special carbohydrates in tumor cells (Liu). This revolutionary discovery was completely new in the field before. Previously, doctors had to be very careful about where they applied certain medications such as doxorubicin, because they could be dangerous to other parts of the body. Now that research has discovered a way to make the drug react only to certain polysaccharides in tumors, doctors no longer have to worry as much about damage to other tissues or organs surrounding the tumor and can focus... middle of article......hemotherapy and others, many more people would have succumbed to diseases like breast cancer.
