“An interracial agency,” he wrote, “assuming the authority to dictate the direction of the black race in all matters in America and Africa, has become the most vicious in his attacks. This agency prepared a memorandum outlining reasons why the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History should not be further supported and circulated it clandestinely to eliminate the Association's supporters. Ultimately, this had the effect of depriving the Association of assistance. all the foundations and the rich who had once helped the
