  • Essay / Research on Ted Bundy and Social Theory - 2021

I chose to analyze the case of Ted Bundy because when I was in high school, I saw the movie Ted Bundy. By the time I watched this movie, I was already interested in going to college and majoring in psychology. I wanted to know why people do what they do. As I approach this topic, I find everything about the Ted Bundy case intriguing. Throughout this course, I learned many theories and risk factors that explain why criminals do what they do. I feel like writing about Ted Bundy and researching his case could benefit my future career in psychology by gaining knowledge in the field of criminology and all types of risk factors. This could make it easier for me to identify the types of risk factors present in the younger generation. I want help to avoid any risk factors that could lead teenagers to engage in criminal behavior. My goal in the future is to obtain a degree in psychology because I have always had a passion for helping people who cannot help themselves. I want people to realize that it all starts with processing our thoughts and that what we think, and what we repeatedly observe, we ultimately become; watching family, friends, television, listening to music, we all learn from these things, if we watch that long it is possible that these things become a part of our character. Our minds are so powerful that if we can start by learning to control our thought process, we can control our behavior. For the purposes of this essay, I have chosen two theories that I think might give us some insight into the mind of Ted Bundy. CASE DETAILS Theodore Robert Cowell (Ted Bundy) was born on November 24, 1946 to Louise Cowell. Ted's biological father has been absent his entire life. His mother...... middle of paper ...... this will have some sort of influence on how we choose to live our lives. By describing each theory and other forms of criminal risk factors, we can say that there are levels and stages that a person goes through before becoming a serial killer, because I firmly believe that no human being on Earth doesn't wake up and automatically go on a killing spree. Many factors need to be mentioned before assuming that one kills just because. No one wants to kill, it's not in our nature to want or need to, it has nothing to do with food and affection, but whatever stimulation a killer experiences in series, perhaps for him it is something like food. Being a criminal can arise through forms of psychological problems, social problems, and cultural, biological, and observational problems. What these criminals get from these horrible acts is beyond my knowledge..
