Windows Media ServicesOverviewWindows Media Services allows users to stream video to clients of their choice on the network. Windows Server (version 2008 or higher) is required to deploy the computer as a server and be able to provide video streaming to clients on the network. Windows Media Server (required for streaming to clients): It streams video content as well as digital audio content. to clients which may be other computers on the network or devices on that network. These clients must have a media player, preferably a Windows Media Player, in order to play the streamed content. Clients can also be servers themselves that further redistribute streamed content or can also be simple applications created using the Windows Media SDK. Windows Media Services allows live streaming as well as pre-recorded media content. However, for live streaming, it is important to use encoding software such as Microsoft Expression Encoder for live streaming. Film and music distributors requiring secure distribution without network congestion. Businesses that host fast streaming video at home and in the office. One of the main benefits of having a server that provides proxy and caching support for media content is that it reduces operational costs and improves streaming for users by offsetting the media load. paper origin.... ..gDelivers content using intelligent streamingSupports cache/proxy delivery scenariosSupports rich client loggingDelivers content to cross-platform Silverlight clientsDelivers content to iOS devices (iPhone, iPad )Provides content referenced by server-controlled playlistsProvides advanced performance limiting propertiesSupported on Server Core installationsReferencesWorks Cited[1]Microsoft. “Product Review: Streaming Media Services.” Internet: http://technet.microsoft.com/library/cc753162, January 4, 2010.[2, 3, 4] Neudesic, LLC. “Windows Media Services 2008”.
