  • Essay / Analysis of the Myers-Briggs Assessment - 789

Myers-Briggs AssessmentAfter taking the MBTI assessment, I do not agree with the results. My results showed that I had marginal or no preference for extroversion over introversion. Additionally, I have a moderate preference for intuition over feeling, a moderate preference for feeling over thinking. And moderate preference to judge rather than perceive. I didn't understand the results regarding extroversion and introversion. I actually believe I possess both attitude qualities. But if I had to choose which one trumps the other, I would say that I am more extroverted than introverted. On the other hand, I can agree with the results of a moderate preference for feeling over thinking. I have found that in many situations I rely on my feelings first rather than the rational, logical way. I'm very sensitive and empathetic, and I always put my feelings first, whether that sometimes turns out to be a good or bad thing. MBTI assessments relate to Jung's theory of personality development because the purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is to make the theory of psychological types described by CG Jung (1921/1971) "comprehensible and useful in life people.” The core of the theory is that many of the seemingly random behavioral disparities are actually quite orderly and reliable, being due to fundamental differences in how individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment. (CAPT, 2014) This information will allow me to be successful as a counselor because I can incorporate the MBTI assessment as part of my client observations to better understand my clients. I think the test is accurate enough and can lead me to many answers depending on my client's results. I would absolutely use this assessment on my c...... middle of paper ......in the child and his sibling(s) have been significantly reduced. The child learns to cope with his negative thoughts and feelings and not act as he normally would. Parental management training consists of techniques in which parents learn to change their own behaviors, thereby adjusting their child's problem behavior at home. Another strategy I suggested is cognitive therapy. This therapy may involve testing the assumptions made and seeking new information that might help change the assumptions in ways that result in different emotional or behavioral responses. I believe that cognitive therapy will help Billy express his feelings of resentment towards his younger brother and may eventually realize that there is no reason to feel any sort of resentment towards his younger brother because he does not didn't do anything wrong to him..
