In the past, writing and sending a letter was the norm, but today most people send emails and text messages to phones. Healthcare has also evolved tremendously: not only are paper charts and records becoming obsolete, but many facilities now share test results, visit information, and lists of prescribed medications. This shift to the digital age has helped improve healthcare by reducing long-term costs, increasing efficiency through decreased wait times, and reducing medical errors. This evolving technological expansion, commonly referred to as nursing informatics, has created numerous opportunities for nursing professionals with information technology experience to enter this growing field.
