I argue that it adversely affects people's lives because technology violates individual privacy and ruins a person's moral development. Technology replaces true virtues with illusions of fulfillment, desire, and connection. It has wrongly redefined the concept of friendship which consists of deep empathy, reciprocity, self-knowledge and shared life. Additionally, it reduces people to satisfied device complementors. To reclaim some of the fundamental human virtues, people must reconsider both the dominant social relations in the society in which they operate and the technology in which they operate..
