    A car turns onto a dark road. The sound of thunder and rain frightens the passengers inside the car. The driver reads a water-soaked map as the paper crumbles. The passengers are convinced they are lost, but the driver refuses to admit it. He ignores his intuition and takes the wrong path. They head into a world of darkness, mystery and the unknown as the car disappears into the night. This premise resembles the tropes seen in a horror story. If this happened in real life, the story would be cut short and we wouldn't explore the rest of this story. We will never know what happens once the car enters a dark road or what happens in the dark. This inclusion of electronic devices and the internet ruins the mysterious aspect of the storytelling. If the characters in the story were transported to the present day, they would have cell phones and GPS systems. They could easily find the right route or use the maps on their cell phone. This scenario would be resolved without much trouble and there would be no more stories to tell. There are no more stories of friends going on adventures without the help or dependence of technology. In many cases, when people embark on an adventure, they turn to electronics for help. “Films are therefore both productive and products of culture; in other words, they respond to culture while reflecting it. [...] Cinema takes ideas and images from the world we live in and then transforms them into stories that are irrelevant. “It’s not just the same as the world outside the cinema” (Nowlan). Just as Bob Nowlan, a film professor at the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire, said that movies reflect our culture, we can't escape technology either.
