  • Essay / Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player of all time

It's not very often that a person can change someone else's life by telling their own story. Michael “Air” Jordan makes this possible. Michael played an important role in changing the way people viewed quality basketball and strong, hard-working athletes. Michael's life tells the world how with just a little drive, great achievements can be achieved. Michael's life began in Brooklyn, New York on February 17, 1963, where his parents James and Delores were always by his side. His father, known for his unwavering support, always gave Michael advice on what he should do, never letting him down. His mother made sure Michael was going in the right direction with everything he did. As a child, he enjoyed athletics and played basketball, baseball and football. He played baseball with his father, constantly playing catch whenever time permitted. Baseball was his favorite. Even at a very young age, he had already enjoyed success by being voted his team's Most Valuable Player. “It was the first big accomplishment of my life,” recalls Michael (Harris, Laurie). Over the years, Jordan became interested in other sports. He played basketball on and off the court. He worked so hard that he decided to take up basketball. He tried out for his high school basketball team as a sophomore, but didn't make it. The coach cut it, believing that Michael did not have enough experience and that he was too raw. Michael said it was embarrassing not to get a spot on the team. Distressed, he refused to surrender (Brenner, Richard J 2). Michael began training continually, constantly working on what he believed would make him a better basketball player, and he set out to prove his coach wrong. Every time he exercised and played middle of paper he tried hard to be. He changed people's opinions about great athletes and about basketball. He left lasting impressions in the minds of others on how the game should be played. Jordan looked at everything as an opportunity and proved that achievements can be great. Michael got other players to see life and sports that way. Michael worked as hard as possible on the basketball court to help his team succeed; Michael always gives his best. He realizes his mistakes and does his best to fix them. Michael is also a family man, with his three children he visited hospitals to help children. Michael is a powerful leader to many people. Today, Jordan takes the time to complete all the tasks assigned to him. He tries to stay out of the public eye and set a good example for his children and others. I wonder how many Michael Jordans are born around the world every day?..
