Hillary Clinton once said, "We need to stop thinking about the individual and start thinking about what's best for society." She emphasized the importance of this quote in continually trying to improve the world. Clinton has participated in numerous reforms, positions and continues to promote equality for all. Throughout her life, she contributed to education, health care and foreign affairs. Hillary Clinton was and still is an influential woman in the 20th century. She encountered obstacles in her life and career, but continued to overcome them. She held many leadership positions during her life which helped her gain experience and knowledge in politics and law. Hillary Clinton was born as Hillary Diane Rodham. She was born on October 26, 1947. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Parkridge, Illinois by her parents, Dorothy and Hugh Rodham. She has two younger brothers named Anthony and Hugh Jr. Rodham. Her parents were very important and influential to her throughout her childhood. Clinton shared her father's interest in politics and her mother's drive. She became interested in the Republican Party as a teenager. In 1964, she began campaigning for presidential candidate Barry Goldwater, a conservative Republican. Clinton later became president of the Young Republicans Club during her first year at Wellesley College.
