  • Essay / We must ban assault weapons - 2391

The controversy surrounding assault rifles is one of the most problematic issues related to the contribution of gangs, drug dealers and most criminal activity . More often than not, criminals have access to the weapons of their choice more easily than they should. By obtaining them from authorized dealers, black markets, and the homes of family members, the availability of these militia weapons has become all too easy to obtain. Increased criminal activity partly explains why more than a third of high school students have ready access to a gun or pistol. “Four out of five guns brought to school actually come from their own homes” (Page by 2). This is one of the biggest problems when it comes to where criminals get their guns. They either steal them from their loved ones' homes, or they ask to borrow them, or they steal them from authorized sellers. There are many ways to obtain guns. People who should not be able to purchase a gun are allowed to do so, and illegal transactions are also a major problem when criminals obtain their guns. It is for these reasons that the government should require restrictions on gun ownership in order to protect society, prevent crime and allow recreational use. Assault weapons have been called the number one source of mass killings in America. The idea that a gun that can fire a large quantity of bullets at a remarkable rate can be used recreationally was thought of differently. This type of weaponry was designed for one reason: to eliminate as many people as possible and to do so in a reasonably quick time. The problem is everywhere and to help control the problem, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence is the nation's largest organization dedicated to gun enactment and enforcement... middle of paper... laws protect society. They need to understand that bans and laws work and that they need to be enforced more strictly so that the country's population can feel safe and protected. The nation has come up with many new ideas to try to solve the problem of illegal gun sales and gun traffickers. They passed gun control laws, refusing to allow fully automatic weapons to be legal in this country in order to keep all citizens safe. All of the proposals put forward by the legislation do an excellent job of controlling the sale and purchase of guns that should not be bought and sold. If the country wants us to be safe and protected by our government, it must know that assault weapons bans and laws work and save the lives of the American people and that there must be cooperation with them to that prohibitions and laws remain strict. and strong.
