One Piece is also a success, since it's still airing even after 500 episodes, it's just proof that they can still make money from their work. Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z rank among the most successful shounen series. The original anime debuted in 1986 and the series continues to be very popular today. Indeed, they are the subject of a lot of publicity (ads, films, video games, derivative products, etc.), and this has been going on for years ("Top 10 popular animated series - Listverse").
