  • Essay / A Look at Digital Books - 1055

In recent years, more and more so-called e-book reading devices have gained popularity among people. Not so long ago they weren't heard, and now, especially after the release of Apple's iPad on April 3, 2010 (one of the key features of just reading a book) , the popularity of readers has become an unprecedented scale that did not exist before. People read and read and will read books. Life goes on. Books have also undergone changes: first they were on bark and papyrus, then on leather and paper, but now we have e-books. First, there are three types of digital books:1. Economical e-reader with color TFT screen. The advantage is the price, the disadvantage is high power consumption and questionable eye safety. After long reading with a bright TFT screen, the eyes can be very tired if periodically the reader does not take a break. This is flickering lighting, which is a fundamental part of TFT technology. To distinguish the TFT screen, you need to look at a certain angle, which has a viewing angle of 90 degrees. This creates some discomfort, especially in direct sunlight.2. Readers based on electronic ink (E-Ink technology). It is considered safe to view and consumes some power due to the technology used. Performs the same function as the first category, but presents a monochrome image. E-books with E-Ink screen allow you to read as much as you want, because if you read them under light, there will be no eye irritation. It can be concluded that the E-Ink screen is safer for the eyes. The viewing angle of any E-Ink display is 180 degrees, making it easy to read text from any angle, even in bright sunlight. H...... middle of paper ......y- because instead of taking piles and piles of heavy books, we carry a lightweight tablet that holds everything we need. And the last, but not least, factor is environmental. Without e-books, 125 million trees would be cut down each year and would emit more than 40 million tonnes of CO2 per year; equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of 7.3 million cars. However, e-books do not harm nature as no trees are required for the production of the e-book. In addition, if previously some people with allergies could not read a book because of dust, now this is no longer a problem and they can easily read a digital book! Personally, I like to read and that is why I bought a cell phone with a large screen, thanks to which it is very comfortable to read books electronically. Remember that the main rule is to read digital books with breaks, and only then it will not harm your eyesight.!
