These cables revealed that hundreds of citizens and immigrants were all on American soil and had passed highly classified information to Soviet intelligence. It was espionage that made it possible to find the traces of Julius and Ethal Rosenburg. The Rosenburgs were American citizens indicted, convicted, and executed for passing classified information to Soviet officials, which helped them duplicate nuclear weapons, particularly the atomic bomb. If the Soviet Union had not had access to such vital information, the turning point between psychological fear and actual physical fear, causing a global wind of cause and effect across the world, then perhaps the Fear itself would not have achieved such status. . Espionage for the Soviet Union was a war on American soil, waged covertly to dismantle the United States' superpower. The atomic bomb created as part of the Manhattan Project established a new level of psychological panic. It influences the media, government and the daily lives of people around the world. The media was covering stories about protecting against a nuclear attack, and the government was on side with the journalists, helping to create more fear with their messages about preparedness. In Hollywood, the political conflict also set the stage for what would later happen in Hollywood, as HUAC would attack the industry. Large corporations controlled this lucrative industry and the companies that controlled the market were eight major Hollywood studios. This revelation helped facilitate American approval of McCarthy and allowed him to bring more charges against those suspected of subversion.
