    After 1966, Auerbach decided to pass the torch to Bill Russell. Russell became the first African-American coach. What's interesting is that Russell coached well and was still a player. Auerbach retired as head coach, moved to general manager to focus on something else. At this point, he proved to be the winningest coach and had his own basketball philosophy. In all the teams he coached, he never had a top scorer in the league. Auerbach aimed to share the wealth with the entire team. His coaching style was very simple. His offense consisted of only seven plays. With Red it wasn't about being flashy, his main goal at the end of the night was to go out with a
