  • Essay / Great Inventions: 3D Printer The Next Great Invention

The world is always coming up with new inventions that revolutionize the way humans go about their daily lives. Recently, it has been computers and the Internet. The next big thing will probably be 3D printing, although no one can say for sure. With a 3D printer you can do a lot of things, although to print some things you need a certain type of printer. Conventional 3D printers use heated ABS or PLS to create wonderful creations. With a 3D printer, this can enable rapid prototyping for businesses. This is much faster than having a company do it, which can take a few days instead of a few hours. 3D printers are being developed that allow doctors to create a heart, lungs or other organs created from a person's genetic tissue. . At Cornell University, researchers have succeeded in creating an ear. In San Diego, there is a form that shows the work done to print human livers. Scottish scientists are attempting to print spots of human embryonic stem cells, which would be useful for further research into topics such as anti-cancer drugs. Researchers are trying to create a working heart using 3D printers. A woman suffered from a condition in which her skull became too large, instead of the normal 1.5 cm, her skull measured approximately 5 cm. This led, among other things, to a loss of motor skills in women. She also had memory problems. Doctors had printed a skull, which allowed the woman to return to normal life. Since the cells used would come from the person needing a transplant, there is little or no chance of rejection by the body. According to OrganDonor.Gov, approximately eighteen people die every day while waiting for an organ. Using this information, there are...... middle of paper...... things available that can be made with a 3D printer. Many see a common 3D printer in every home one day. These are objects of the future. The ways they can be used are almost endless. Hopefully one day they can be used to give a better life to those who wouldn't otherwise live well, if someone had a faulty heart they could have a new one printed with little to no chance of rejection, or if someone who might not be able to get nutritious food now will be able to have food cartridges that can help them eat so they don't become malnourished, or if there is just a student who wants to learn more on engineering and circuits, he will be able to build one and then use it for educational purposes as well as recreational purposes. There are many types of 3D printers, each with a different function and what they can do. One day they will greatly improve the world.
